Fall is an amazing time of year. The leaves change colors and cooler temperatures creep in. Well, not if you’re in Texas. We are hanging on to that 95-degree weather and it is 5 days into October. Regardless, fall is here and I am happy. I look forward to wearing a light sweater, leggings, and boots.

Fall Favorites

There are many fun fall activities to do. Many of which I have never done even as a kid or with my own children. A few I have done, but will definitely do again.

Carving pumpkins is one of my absolute favorite activities. I carved as a kid, before I had kids, with my kids, and now without kids. I started out just using a butcher knife and creating different eyes and smiles for my jack-o-lanterns. I graduated into using the carving kits and never looked back. I enjoy picking out pumpkins for carving. There is an art to it in my opinion. I look forward to pumpkin picking every year.

Another fall activity is sitting around an outdoor fire. I find sitting next to a wood-burning fire, watching the majestic flames, and listening to the crackle. I find it peaceful. I don’t mind sitting alone and taking it all in as I listen to music or read. Of course, it’s enjoyable with others too. It’s festive to roast marshmallows and make s’mores. Who can resist s’mores?

Fall Bucket List

This is my second year to be an empty nester. I’ve always loved taking my kiddos to different places to new and exciting things. This year, I have a bucket list. I plan on dragging my husband out to explore new activities as well as enjoy the favorites.

Here are the top 10 items on my list.

  1. Go to a pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect pumpkins for carving.
  2. Carve pumpkins into something amazing and possibly scary.
  3. Dare to find my way of a corn maze.
  4. Go on a hayride. Day or night works, maybe a haunted hayride.
  5. Visit a pumpkin/jack-o-lantern festival.
  6. Attend the Texas State Fair and get a picture with Big Tex.
  7. Go on a haunted ghost tour.
  8. Go hiking. It may be more like walking, but somewhere scenic.
  9. Shop at a farmer’s market.
  10. Have a fire in the fire pit and eat s’mores.

After creating my list, I scoured the internet to plan it out. Here are some links that I’ll share.

Hall’s Pumpkin Farm has hayrides, a corn maze, and a pumpkin patch! I’ve never been, but I plan too!

I’m also interested in attending Pumpkin Nights where attendees walk through a village of over 3,000 glowing pumpkins!

I’m excited to walk on the nature trails in Colleyville’s Nature Center. The website says there are unpaved trails with several ponds.

The Texas State Fair is my desire every year, but I haven’t been in over 10 years. I have my tickets this year and just need to pick the day to go.

Farmer’s markets are all around and very popular. I think I might check out the Colleyville Farmer’s Market. Looks like it’s open on Thursdays.

The Stockyards Ghost Tours is a 90-minute walk to learn about paranormal activity in the Historical Stockyards.

I’m excited about these fun fall activities and I’m looking forward to the cooler temperatures. What are you looking forward to this fall?
